Who we are

Followers of Jesus

We are the Anglican church family of the Parish of Easby, Skeeby, Brompton on Swale, and Bolton on Swale. Our mission is to live out our faith as followers of Jesus Christ within our families, among our friends, whilst we work, rest and have fun.

Our purpose, as Christians, is to follow Jesus and to share our lives with others in the hope that they will see the truth of Jesus in us; despite all of our faults and our humanity.

Jesus told us to love one another and to go into the world and share the good news.

Living an abundant life

Living a life following Jesus liberates rather than oppresses. “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

It does not say, “Do this, and then maybe you will be good enough to be one of my sheep.” It says, “You belong to me already. No one can snatch you out of my hand.”

Secure in this belonging, we are free to live the abundant life of which Jesus spoke. This abundant life is not necessarily about abundance in years, or in wealth, health, status, or accomplishments. It is life that is abundant in the love of God, made known in Jesus Christ, love that overflows to others.

It is eternal life because its source is in God who is eternal, and in Jesus, who is the resurrection and the life.

All are welcome

Jesus ministered to all people. He did not differentiate or collude and he never harmed anyone.

You may be seeking to connect or reconnect with God or in need of prayer. Perhaps you are simply looking for a quiet place to find a moment of peace and contemplation. Maybe you'd like to talk to someone over a cup of coffee. There are no obligations.

What we do

Services

We meet together to give thanks and praise God.

Some services are traditional with familiar rhythms, readings, hymns and prayers. Others are more relaxed with a distinct element of fun.

Schools

A group goes into local schools to contribute to assembly time. Using 'Open the book' they act out and talk about bible stories.

Study

We meet together to study God's word, to share and to pray for each other and those we know.

Prayer

We believe in the life changing power of prayer. We pray as individuals, small groups and as a church. Many people ask for prayer even if they are not church goers themselves. We are happy to pray with you or for you - whatever you are comfortable with.

Socialising

We consume a lot of tea and cake but we also talk! We spend time together with friends, family and getting to know new people. The 'Hub café' runs weekly and a similar lunchtime event has started at Skeeby. The quiz night is a fun event popular with lots of local people.

Open Pantry

Jesus helped people at their point of need and we try to follow that example. That can mean practical as well as spiritual support. We operate the Open Pantry where we share food and other essentials with those who need a bit of a hand.

Where we meet

There are four traditional places of worship in the parish with church buildings at Easby, Skeeby, Brompton on Swale and Bolton on Swale. We also get together in homes, cafes and other locations. We are in different places week to week so please refer to the calendar for where are meeting.

As well as being of spiritual importance the church buildings are of historical interest.
